We went camping a couple weekends ago to Christopher Creek. We had a great time mainly because of three things:
#1: WATER
Note to self: If you don't want to have to entertain your kids, ever, camp by water. Seriously, the kids played and played and played in the little creek there, and we hardly ever saw them. The water was so "wefweshing"! (Anyone, anyone?) The creek was only a few inches deep so we didn't have to worry too much about anyone drowning or anything either.
Kirk made some awesome fishing poles with a little copper wire he bent into hooks to hold hotdog pieces (our killer bait) to catch crawdads. The kids fished all day long!
They ended up catching a total of 47 crawdads. The named the first few, but then just let them go because they thought the crawdad families would miss them. Plus, they didn't want to have to boil them up and eat them like we made them do last time.
#2 FIRE
It wasn't even cold enough to need a fire at night, but what is camping without a campfire to roast some marshmallows, make s'mores, and poke with sticks just enough to make all the moms really nervous?
We tried strawberry marshmallows - delicious!!
#3 FAMILY
Nothing is better than spending some great outdoor time with family! Kirk's parents and three of his brothers and families came to enjoy with us.
When the cousins weren't playing in the water, they loved playing house in the tent.
The five little girl cousins played house for hours, each taking turns being the "mom" in charge of bossing all the other "sisters".
Poor Nash, as the only boy cousin there, he got banished from the house (tent) and was only allowed to play when he agreed to be the dog, spending most of his time tied to a tree outside the tent.
As we were packing up, we found we had several eggs left over, and the egg carton was all waterlogged, so instead of trying to package them safely to get them home, we decided to have an egg toss.
All in all, it was a great time! Camping is a blast!

Nice to see that Mitch is following your blog! Poor little Nash is quite a good sport. I guess he just better get used to it!
