Happy 35 Babe!

Kirk celebrated his 35th birthday this last weekend. Actually, I got the better end of this stick, because I also celebrated this whole weekend too, and I didn't have to get older. You see, for Kirk's birthdays he likes to take me out, stay at a nice hotel, and relax with me. He says that he'd rather spend money on something that will make a memory than something that will break or will get lost later. I whole heartedly agree. (Plus, it gets me out of getting him a birthday present and I get to spend all weekend with him - what's better?)

So, thanks to Priceline again, we stayed at the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch. We love their pool and the surroundings. We started out our stay-cation with lunch at Cheba Hut in Tempe. They have a weed-themed menu, but seriously the best sandwiches around! (I think they must use weed for lettuce or something). After that we went to the hotel, where we pretty much just lazed around at the pool. We also went to dinner and movie, but the bulk of the time was just hanging out poolside. Saturday we hit up the three story corkscrew waterslide (which was actually really fun and scary), watched people get sloshed (like the lady that tried to get into the 8-foot-deep pool holding her drink and sandwich above her head, not realizing that it was so deep, and just sinking, but still trying to hold her food and drink above her head), and caught some serious rays!

After all our fun relaxing, we picked up our girls from Kirk's parent's house where they surprised him with decorations, silly string, and cute books they made about their dad.

Then we finished our celebration at Islands with our girls and Kirk's parents.

In celebration of Kirk and the great 35 year old guy he is, here are a few fun facts about him:

-His secret love: music. Pretty much any kind, except country. He secretly wants to be a rapper. He almost bought himself a turntable and a microphone for his birthday. He would love to be Sir Mixalot and mix all the thumpiest beats and the robotic voices with some serious scratching.

-His all time favorite band: Beastie Boys. Whatcha Want never gets old - at least to him.

- One of his favorite past time: Playing with his brothers. When they get together it's all a bunch of dares and contests that can last all day long.

-His number one fear: Lightening. He hates being out and watching a good monsoon storm, because he is afraid he'll get struck by lightening.

-His hobby: Cooking. I'll freely admit that he is the better cook in our house. He knows different herbs and spices and knows when to use them. He's not afraid to spend a couple hours fixing something yummy, when I just don't have the patience for it.

Yes, his apron says "Real Men Wear Aprons" (a gift from my mom at our wedding).
- His favorite sport to watch: College Football - namely ASU football. He's almost giddy about the start of the season.
- His favorite sport to play: Softball, but golf is a close second.
- His favorite girls: All of us! Kirk has a special way of making all of us feel like we're his one and only. He's the greatest! Can't wait for another 35 years!
