Break Time!

We had a lot of fun during Christmas Break.  Kirk had a few days off at the beginning of the year, so we tried to pack in some fun during those times.

For Christmas, Kirk got a new GPS so that we could start geo-caching with our girls.  He's done this a few times with the scouts and thought that our girls would like it.  What geo-caching is, is basically treasure hunting with GPS coordinates.  You can go online and find caches in whatever area you want, plug the coordinates into your GPS, and then it will lead you to it, and you just have to find it in that area.  The cache has a container with a log that you sign and also "treasures" that you can take if you replace it with something of equal-ish value.
Here Brynn and Liz were at the sight we found our first geo-cache.  It was pretty great!  I think Liz got a pencil sharpener and Brynn got a little compass as the treasures they chose.  So much fun, except that we rode our bikes a little too far off road and ended up getting thorns in everyone's bike tires resulting in flat tires in eveyone's new bikes.

Another day we went on a hike with Kirk's sister Tiff and some of her girls up the Hieroglyphic Trail.  Right at the very start of the trail we helped a little guy that had gotten too close to a jumping cactus and got it all in his leg.  So after that, the girls were super good at staying on the trail and not wandering off.

You end up at a little waterfall that flows into a little pool.  We haven't had any rain lately, so there was just a tiny waterfall and a green pond.  Still it was fun and the girls had a fun time!

We didn't always go places for fun.  This was Brynn's typical morning ritual.  She got a few books for Christmas that she was always stretching out to read, especially when it was time to do jobs - a girl after my own heart.  :)

We also did a few puzzles.  Liz and Noelle are pretty awesome at them and one day put together about seven puzzles.

Noelle had gotten a 500 piece puzzle from Grandma Nielson for Christmas, and amazingly put it together in about two hours.  She had a little help from others, and it was an easy puzzle, but still - WOW!

One afternoon we wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather (low 70's all that week!) so we went to the park to have lunch and feed the ducks.  We took Gracie and Sophie Nichols and had a great time, except for the bees that kept trying to swarm us and eat our lunch too.

We also had a fun Huber family reunion where we got to see our fun extended family.

The reunion celebrated the lives of my great grandparents, so for part of it they had an impromptu orchestra that played while all the kids played other instruments and marched.

We also had some relay races.  Here Noelle is trying to whistle to Grandma Huber, racing Aunt Elaine and Uncle Dale.  It was so good to see everyone!

We had so much fun being together during our Christmas Break!!
