Utah Week 2

Once Kirk got to Utah it was a full on party!! He got there the night of the 24th, so we decided to go with the mobs of people to the Pioneer Day firework show at Liberty Park.  We drove for an hour, then walked for 1/2 hour, and then waited for the show to start, only to find that the fireworks were all being set off behind the trees.  It was not much of a show.  We'll know next time. 

The next day we went to Hill Air Force Base where my dad is a civilian dentist and went to the airplane museum there.  We were all really impressed with the huge airplanes and jets!

Of course, the funnest part was the kids section where the girls could once again try on all the uniforms and pretend to be astronauts or pilots.

Maverick and Goose?

Even Kirk got in on the fun! (Actually the fun was watching him try and wiggle into the flight suit which was a few sizes too small.  hee hee!)

We also found this little dinosaur museum down the road from my parents' house.  We weren't expecting much, so we were happily surprised when it was rather cool.

Outside there was a whole park of life sized dinosaurs with information all about them. It reminded me of Jurassic Park, and I was a little nervous they might come alive any second.

The best part was the animatronic dinosaurs behind the high voltage wire that totally scared the girls to death - especially when Kirk pretended to get shocked. 

The next day we went to Lagoon!  The girls were so excited to ride all the roller coasters and get thoroughly sick.  Of course we went on the hottest day they had had so far this summer.  We got there at 11:00 when it opened, and for two hours straight we went on all the biggest roller coasters.  We met up with Kirk's brother, Kam and his wife Amy and their kids, and had take them on all the best rides again.  So, needless to say, by 2:00 we were totally hot and super sick.  It's funny how the older I get, the less fun roller coasters are.  (I guess I should mention that all the kids felt fine, it was just us oldies feeling the heat.)

So we had a nice long lunch break to try and get our second wind, and then started all over again! So much fun!! 

Later that day, Kirk and Brynn, and then Marissa and Noelle, went on the Sky Coaster.  It's basically a giant swing that takes you up 150 feet and then drops you and lets you swing as you lay in a sling thing.  I couldn't believe that Brynn wanted to go!  I think I was more nervous than her!  I was worried the harnesses wouldn't be able to hold her tiny body in.

On her way up, she said "Dad, this is higher than I thought it would be", and Kirk agreed with her.  But they were both brave and said it was super fun!

Marissa and Noelle were super excited, and not one speck nervous (or so they said). 

They screamed and screamed and screamed.  I think they were still screaming even after they got off. 

Lagoon was so much fun!!

We were so sad that our time with Grandma and Grandpa was almost done.  The girls had one last request before we headed out Saturday morning:  a motorcycle ride with Grandpa!

Brynn's smile was just about as big as her helmet!

Liz was a little more nervous, and wasn't sure she wanted to go at first, but by the time she came back she wasn't even holding on for dear life anymore.

 Marissa wore the helmet well.  She looks almost as good as I do in hats :)  Maybe it will be a new fashion trend?

 Noelle was also full of smiles and talked all the way home about how fun it was to ride with Grandpa, and maybe next time she can go to one of his motorcycle rallies with him. 

 We had such a great time and are so thankful to Mom and Dad for their hospitality!
